Community

Up until the end of 20th century the village had been a small close knit farming community and there were still 3 working farms operating in the village itself. These farms have now closed or moved out of the village.

Shop were once prolific in the village and the village was almost self sufficient.

Traditionaly Templeton held two anual fairs. 12 November and 20 July. These were originally hiring fairs or fairs where livestock changed hands but they were also a great social occasion for the village. At these fairs Templeton became famous for it's Katt's pies the history of them is again obscure but they are believed to have originated from the famous KitKat club in London.


Later events were Templeton Show and Templeton Carnival.

The four churches have always had their own social calendar and everyone would have been a member of one of them.
